The wings bring the sides of the headboard forward so they partly enclose the head of the bed. That frames the bed visually and, more practically, blocks the draught you get sitting up against a cold external wall.

Fits like the rest of the floor standing range: legs slide under the divan base and the bed holds it steady. Nothing fixed to the wall.
